A few months ago, a local restaurant contacted us about designing a tee-shirt for their employees. The business owner was actually dead-set against any type of uniform at the time, but since he heard that a big regional food critic was due to stop by his restaurant in the next few days, he thought it was a good idea in case there was a photo opportunity. Well, to this day we don’t think that the critic ever made it but the tee shirts are still being proudly worn by the entire staff.
Why, you ask? Well, a funny thing happened- the owner told us that the morale of his staff was lifted up almost immediately and his customers seemed to appreciate being able to quickly identify employees as well. Even though the company “uniform” was merely a dark blue tee-shirt with the restaurant logo and a pair of black jeans, the owner also discovered that people would stop him while he was out in public and comment on the change.
Even more importantly, new customers started showing up. This didn’t seem to make any sense at first but after asking several of his 1st time patrons, the owner discovered that a lot of people didn’t even know that the restaurant was there…even though they drove past it and two huge billboards every single day.
